Provincial Government Trail Strategy

Please consider completing the survey through the link below. The more of us that do, the more we are in the decisions that lay in front of us. The provincial government would like all trail stakeholders and interested parties to participate in a survey regarding a provincial trail strategy. Here is the link to the survey, https://engagemb.ca/manitoba-trails-strategy.  This is important and we appreciate your participation. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

Eastman ATV December 2020 Update

The 2020 riding season is coming to an end. In spite of Covid-19, we had a full ride season. Did you have a good number of rides, where you hadn’t been before? Did you enjoy meeting fellow members and sharing your riding experiences? I think many new friends were made, ones that we are looking to reconnect with next year. I have made some longtime friends in our community. These new friendships grow every year and statistically, we are finding that there is a growing number who are staying with the club. We look forward to reconnecting when the clubs start up again in 2021.

The expected growth of the club is expected to be about 20%, meaning around 150 memberships could be purchased for 2021. If you have been with the club a year or two to please consider volunteering to help with the new members. I know time is valuable, and I respect and value your time. However, If you can make some time, it would be greatly appreciated. Our organizing efforts are making a difference for your club, and for others in Manitoba who are less fortunate. Volunteering will provide you with opportunities to shape your club and enjoy the great company of your fellow ORV community.

This year 2020 Eastman ATV, in support of the ATV Ride for Mom Fundraising Event, raised $14,645 for Cancer Care Manitoba, by fundraising alone! 100% to CancerCare Manitoba. Below a reply from Sherelle Kwan with Cancer Care Manitoba on our 2020 event.

Hi Don:
It looks like the grand total for this year’s Eastman ATV Ride For Mom is $14,645 WOW!!! Truly wonderful. CancerCare Manitoba Foundation is extremely grateful for the amazing support from the Eastman ATV Ride For Mom. This year has certainly been challenging for so many due to COVID-19 and although the event was cancelled your dedication to help those touched by cancer didn’t stop. Thank you so much for your ongoing support. You are truly making a difference for so many Manitobans touched by cancer. We look forward to the 2021 event. With your help there is hope!
Sherelle Kwan
Community Events Manager CCMF

Why do we make the investment in organizing? I asked Armando Brambilla, President of ATVMB for the past 4 years. Armando started helping the ORV community back in 2013 by re-building the website for ATVMB. In 2014, he joined the ATVMB board of directors. After a few years as a director at large, he accepted the nomination for VP. Armando continues to provide good leadership as Chairman of the board. He has been a member of Eastman ATV and served Eastman’s board for about 1.5 years, during which time he was the treasurer. He has been on the planning committee for the two ATV Ride for Dad events Part of his role, with all these organizations, includes attending many events and trade shows, as a representative. Armando, is currently a member of The Sandhogs ATV club.   I asked Armando, “Why do we make the investment in organizing?

ATVing as a leisure activity has exploded in popularity over the past 20 years. There are well over 45 thousand registered ATVs and side-by-sides in Manitoba. This has driven the need for accessibility to safe riding areas for enthusiasts from beginner to expert. We organize for one main reason: we are stronger together. Not only do we meet people from all walks of life who have common interests; we, as ATVMB advocates, (on behalf of ATV enthusiasts, with the government,) create a strong base which amplifies our standing and makes more of an impact. In addition, the government prefers to deal with one representative organization rather than many small ones. As membership increases, so does the community’s standing.

A big thank you to everyone involved in the success of our club. It is the combined effort of all of us that energize our club. We are very fortunate to have such good people around us.

The black in our logo represents the trails we manage, (the stewardship of the trail Eastman ATV is responsible for). I am proud to say that we take care of our trail like we own it.

I particularly want to thank our secretary Greg Gowryluk, who will be stepping down from the board this year. Greg will leave Eastman in excellent shape. He developed a straightforward process for minute taking, managing the cloud for document storage of club info. He manages both the ATV Ride for Mom and EastmanATV websites. In addition he processes, builds and mails out all membership packages from the online store he built. He has been the acting VP, (without the title) and the unofficial general manager of Eastman ATV. Greg will continue to co-chair for the 2021 ATV RFM and assist in the background, for the necessary online aspects of the club.

It will take more than a few people to replace you Greg. We will all miss you at the board. Thank you again for your many years of valuable work.

I look forward to being part of your ORV experience next year.

Eastman ATV November 2020 Update

Saturday October 17th was Eastman ATV final ride. It was the best ride of the year, the cool temperature of 0C kept the moisture in the sand and no dust was a reward of the cooler temperatures. Everyone was well dressed and with it being sunny and calm we had ideal weather for the October ride. The route was level 2, so a surprising challenge for new riders, Roland advised the group to use 4WD or low through the hills. You would never know such trials are out there in the flat Manitoba. A big thank you to Roland for all the rides this year. Thank you for a full riding season and leading and gathering support crew and pre-rides.

Thank You to Bill Marsh for joining the Eastman ATV board of Directors and thanks again to Robert Nuttall for joining the board back in August. Eastman ATV continues to look for like minded members to become active with our board of directors or you can join a single committee. Our board and RFM committee meetings are moving to a Zoom format, other committees may vary the pending size and frequency of meetings, feel free to call me anytime to talk about it or if you have any questions about Eastman ATV. The gold in our logo represents the volunteers of Eastman ATV that built and continue to give their best to this organization.

The ATV Ride for Mom is a committee of Eastman ATV. ATV Ride for Mom has raised over $54,000 for CancerCare Manitoba over the past 4 years, this gives a growing purpose to our organization. Supporting CCM while experiencing a great family ride demonstrates the good will and actions of our ATV community. This is an excellent event to show we can manage a sustainable trail network and be able to give back to our province at the same time. Making it a family event, it will become a tradition. We are organizing 2021, we have an excellent, much larger & stronger committee managing the event. When the time comes for day volunteers please step up, we are going to need you all. We will be more organized than ever as we know this will be the biggest crowd ever. Please mark June 5th in your calendar now.

Our 2021 ATV Ride for Mom Sponsors starting list, and a big thank you to those committing. I will be providing more info as to where, and why, we need our sponsors’ support in upcoming updates. Our sponsors are a true partner and are the ones that foot the bill to put this fantastic event on. We do need more sponsors and they will be added to this list as they see this as the fastest growing outdoor family event that is giving back to the& Province of Manitoba, and want to be part of it.

Our Sponsors include: SAR, Enns Bros, TCG, Adventure Power Products, Headingley Sports Shop, Winnipeg Sport & Leisure, Westside Honda, Ronds Marine, Chudds Power Sports, Smoke House design, Silk Screen Ind., Nelson River Construction, Fort Garry Ind., Speciality Tire, X-Promo, Pine Ridge Offroad, Sherp North America and the All Terrain Vehicle Association of Manitoba.

Thank you to all our past supporters, we have a big list of people who have not rejoined this year that’s ok we know you still support our efforts of developing signed trails we can all ride. Our membership decals now read Membership / Trail Pass to reflect the many members we have that join only to support trail development and an organized club that is actively working with the government to enhance and add to the trail network. We understand some people don’t want to be part of a club, they only want maintained trails, and more of them, that’s ok, buy a voluntary trail pass then. Lots of different people, styles and reasons to ride, we all need a trail though.

2020 Ride For Mom Donation Campaign

Annually in June our club does a “Ride for Mom”, the goal of which is to raise money for CancerCare MB. We are very proud to state that over the last four years the Ride for Mom has raised over $54,000, all of which was turned over to CancerCare MB to be used at their discretion in the research and treatment of cancer in this Province.
This year, due to Covid-19, there was not an actual Ride for Mom, however despite that, the Eastman ATV Club has instead decided to launch a Ride for Mom Campaign to raise funds. The Ride for Mom Campaign will run from September 15 th toOctober 31 st , 2020, after which all donations will be turned over to CancerCare MB. I am asking you to consider making a donation for this very worthy cause. All donations in any amount are more than welcome and tax receipts will be issued by CancerCare MB for any donation over $15. We have several easy options available to assist you with your donation:

  1. You can make your donation directly to CancerCare MB by following the this link to their site. The advantage of this is that you will receive your tax receipt by email very promptly. CancerCare MB link is: http://support.cancercarefdn.mb.ca/goto/EastmanATVRideForMom
  2. Make a cheque payable to CancerCare MB Foundation and mail it to Eastman ATV, 6-1329 Niakwa Road East, Winnipeg, MB, R2J 3T4. Please also include your name, mailing address and email address for tax receipting purposes.
  3. You can e-transfer your donation to rideformom@eastmanatv.com Please include your name, mailing address and
email address for tax receipting purposes. In order to ensure your e-donation is secure, please use the following question and password: Question: What is the name of this campaign? Answer: rideformom
  4. You can contact Eastman ATV Club President Donald Eidse at deidse@eastmanatv.com or 204- 558-5690 for more information.

Cancer is a devastating disease that touches our hearts deeply, as we all have loved ones and friends that it has impacted in the past, is doing so right now and unfortunately will do so again in the future. However, your donation helps enable ongoing cancer research, which equates to new cutting-edge treatments and drugs, which in some cases translates into cures or longer life expectancies.
Once again, thanks very much for supporting this very worthy cause. Its people like you that make a difference.

Planning requires letting us know if you plan on attending, we will see very soon as our schedule is  back on track.  We will send an email to 2020 members for each ride 1 week or so before the ride to confirm ride details. (They have been sent to 2020 members already). Check out all our events at https://eastmanatv.com/events

Wear a face mask or dust mask when you are unable to control the 2 meter buffer in general conversation with other riders.

DANGER Please consider, many members care for people in the high risk category or belong to the high risk category. Please respect Physical Distancing, if we all do that we create a barrier for the high risk.

Eastman ATV May 2020 Update

Continue to be aware of 2 Meter Physical Distancing

We have the following Ride changes;
• May 9th Whitemouth Ride Tentatively CANCELED (Once the Province lifts the current 10 person maximum gathering we will have club rides.)
• June 6th ATV Ride for Mom with Eastman ATV is CANCELED. It will be back June 5th 2021.
• June 27th Mars Hill – status to be determined.

From the Provincial government, we are to cancel all non essential travel until further notice. We will abide by this directive as all Manitobans are in an effort to stop transmission of Covid-19. We look forward to getting to our ride schedule as much as you are. As soon as groups of over 10 can meet our rides will go ahead.
Additionally to protect our membership we request that members do not invite guests on rides until further notice. Club rides will be members only. I fully expect we will be having club rides this summer, hopefully for June we will be back on track.
1) Consider where you park, unload, load up that you are giving the proper distance.
2) When you line up for a ride leave 4 meters of space in front of you when coming up to another ORV. This is the same for stops you make during a ride. Please take the necessary action to keep physical distance, and set an example for others.
3) If your machine is being recovered or repaired by someone else, step 2 meters away from your machine until they have completed their task, and they have walked away from your machine before returning to your machine. Effective to stop the transmission;of Covid-19 * keep a distance of 2 meters from others at all times. Wear a face mask or dust mask when in general conversation with other riders.

We have 59 members in our club today.  A really big thank you to these members for showing continued support through this pandemic as this will be a challenging year for many of us. Keeping up with membership allows your club to continue building for tomorrow, that momentum keeps your club focused on trail development so we can go have great rides with your own group or with the club rides. Welcome, welcome new members, we are glad you have joined in support of an organized effort to ensure we have a sustainable trail system now and moving forward, or to come and enjoy club rides  Membership means different things to different people so feel free to attend or not attend club functions. As a member I will keep you informed of all rides, events and updates. I have called most of the membership, and will continue to call all 2020 members to ensure you have received your membership and if you have any questions I can help with. Eastman ATV is looking for a few Trail work volunteers, please contact me and i will give you a call to discuss.

Special Mention Andy Brant was the 1st president of Eastman ATV Association Inc. He developed the original constitution and organized a number of key people that would go on to be key founders in developing organized ATVing in Manitoba, many thanks to Andy for founding the EATV club we all know today.  At our wind up this fall we will be recognizing the many members that have been a part of this club for both 5 and 10 years, and will celebrate those anniversaries.

Membership https://eastmanatv.com/product/membership-2020

DANGER: Please consider, many members care for people in the high risk category or belong to the high risk category. Please respect Physical Distancing,  if we all do that we create a barrier for the high risk.

If your machine is being recovered or repaired by someone else, step 2 meters away from your machine until they have completed their task, and they have walked away from your machine before returning to your machine.

DANGER Please consider many members care for people in the high risk category or belong to the high risk category. Please respect Physical Distancing,  if we all do that we create a barrier for the high risk.

We would like you to consider how you can support your club through this challenging year. We really don’t know what will happen this summer, but looking where Covid-19 is going we are in a time of changing freedoms. Riding in groups of 10  is the current group number that can not be exceeded indoors or outdoors gatherings. Uncertain times for sure. We will keep you posted and continue to evolve our plan for the riding season. We know this for sure, this is like no other time before and extraordinary measures are necessary. Our riding schedule will be affected and much smaller groups will be how we ride this season. Maybe we have ride day, provide a map and we let small groups meet up at staging and go? If you have ideas and would like to help, please contact me. We need to ride, let’s figure out how to do it safely.
